Highly visited Puerto Rican gem. We loved everything about our food and drinks (worth the 45 min wait). They are traditional, family owned business. Depending on the time you go, it can be a long wait and you cannot make reservations.I also recommend shared vehicles or ride share because Old San Juan has very slim parking options.Below is my rating of the food and drinks:*Fried Red Snapper: BEST fried fish I’ve had in a minute… they get 10/5 for this one.*Arroz con Gandules: 5/5*Piña Colada: 5/5 (best I had in PR)*Guava Mojito: 5/5*Mofongo: 4/5*Pastelillos De Pollo: 3/5*Garlic Sauce: 5/5Everybody was so kind and helpful. They really do work like a team!Recommendation for the restaurant: please renovate your restroom.

Amazing !!! Seen this gem on Instagram and just had to try it out when I came to PR. The hype is real !!! I ordered a fried red snapper and it was delicious and super fresh. Service was great and I felt very welcomed. The venue is beautiful it literally looks like a little Old San Juan inside it’s majestic to say the least. Definitely coming back here 10/10

Recommended by our rainforest excursion guide!!! A local spot to get away from all the tourist attractions and have some great reasonable priced food and drinks. Glad I got to make my way and try it out.

A fantastic spot in Old San Juan for traditional cuisine, casual dining, and great drinks. This restaurant is lively and popular, so expect a bustling atmosphere. We tried the Chillo Frito, a whole fried fish that was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and generous enough to share. The Bistec was equally impressive—perfectly cooked and flavorful, served with plantains and rice for a truly satisfying meal.Whether you’re here to eat, drink, or just soak in the lively vibe, this place is a must-visit for an authentic and fun dining experience!

This is a tiny food establishment which looks like a hole in the wall. It was absolutely delicious and came highly recommended so we stopped in. Super laid back atmosphere and great portion sizes.

I was introduced to this restaurant by not only my hotel, but also the locals of San Juan. the ambiance is beautiful of the local area that provides the hidden gem. the name of the restaurant is El Jibarito located in the heart of Old San Juan.l and surrounded by the rich history of Puerto Ricos Old San Juan district. My server, Melvin was very friendly and welcoming as well as the rest of the beautiful staff, including a lovely hostess Ms. Wanda Torress whom made me immediately feel welcome. My server recommended the the Christmas plate. The burst of flavor had the whole of San Juan spread through your taste buds. I also got a Pina Colada. San Juan owes me NOTHING!! Awesome experienc, and definitely recommend. There isn't much parking in the tight space where the restaurant is locate, so I recommend walking to the destination.
